Spirit Fitness is a connection of multiple styles flowing together. Taught by Sensei Rod Coulter, with over 20 years Martial Arts experience. Curriculum covers Natural spirit, non-classical Wing Chung, single stick Modern Arnis, Close-Quarter Kali, Double Stick Escrima, Kuntao - Trapping, Combat Knife, Double Knife, Staff - Sibat, Defensive Tactics, Renegade Jeet Kune Do, Ninjutsu and much, much, more. Rod Has Trained with Datu Kelly Worden, Grandmaster Hatsumi Sensei and Ninjutsu Master Sensei Jay Creasey Who brought Ninjutsu to Western Canada over 15 years ago. As the former weapons editor for Full Contact and Fighting Knives magazines, Mr. Worden has been the author of numerous articles, books and videos on reality based self-defense and weapons training.

About our Head Instructor
Hello, my name Rod Coulter. I have been involved in the martial arts for over 20 years during that time I have trained in various styles including Kempo, Kali, Natural spirit, non-classical Wing Chung, single stick Modern Arnis with Datu Kelly Worden, and Ninjitsu with Sensei Jay Creasey.

A previous modeling career which took me all over the world including Japan allowed me to train with various styles and instructors which I feel has given me a great balance and understanding of my own style. I have been an instructor for over 8 years and now teach both group classes, ladies self defense, kids classes and privates.

Some of my achievements include my 3 dan black belt certified by Masaaki Hatsumi out of Tokyo, ISSA personal trainer certification my St. Johns first aid, CPR Certification, AFLCA certification, Many martial arts workshops with some of the greats including Benny the jet, Bill Wallace, Datu Kelly Worden.

My personal philosophy is to have balance in every aspect of your life, to live each day being present in the moment, find your passion and figure out a way to make it your job and in turn it doesn’t feel like work. Basically it is up to you to wake up and have whatever attitude you want so why not make it a good one and enjoy everyday!
